Confirmation is an opportunity for older children, teenagers and others who were baptised as children to confirm their faith publicly and for themselves. It marks the point in the Christian journey at which we affirm for ourselves the faith into which we were baptised as an infant and our intention to live as a committed disciple of Jesus. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop. The church also asks God to give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus.

As candidates prepare for confirmation it is hoped that they will discover new things about God, the Christian faith, the significance of church, worship and Holy Communion, to grow as a disciple of Jesus and learn and how to serve God and the Church in their daily life.
