In June 2015 a few of us thought it might be interesting to do a monthly walk, well a stroll really, around some local paths and places of interest in the locality. The numbers vary but it’s usually between six and twelve of us. We choose flattish walks so no-one need be excluded. (The top of Brent Knoll is definitely not on our list!) We have explored the Local Nature Reserve, have done some beach and sand dune walks, parts of the Strawberry Line, part of the Levels, part of the Cheddar Reservoir. The walks usually last about an hour and are not strenuous. In May we had a day out on the West Somerset Railway, with some getting off the train at Dunster and walking the coastal path to Minehead, where we all joined up and enjoyed a meal at a cafe before catching the train back. It seems that we usually find somewhere to eat a snack, either in a cafe, or we take a picnic and eat together before returning home. It is a good way of chatting and getting to know people, making friends and just enjoying the scenery and each other. We try to share transport. The walks are open to anyone and everyone. All are welcome.
